Substitute Custodian Supplemental Questionaire

 

 

DEFINITION:  Under immediate supervisor, performs work of routine difficulty in performing general custodial services in a school plant and performs related work as required.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Sweeps, mops, waxes and scrubs floors
• Dust, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles
• Washes windows and walls, cleans restrooms and classroom heaters and screens, sweeps sidewalks and play areas
• Moves and arranges furniture and equipment
• Clean fountains
• Polishes metalwork
• Replaces light bulbs
• Replenishes supplies
• Turns out lights and locks doors and windows
• Reports the need for repairs
• Watches buildings to prevent vandalism
• Operates power cleaning equipment
• May do limited grounds maintenance work
• May make minor non-technical repairs

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Training and Experience:  None required

 

Knowledge of:

• Methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work

 

Skills in:

• Understanding and carrying out oral and written directions
• Using common cleaning equipment
• Doing manual work associated with custodial duties

 

Ability to:

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
